Actor and activist Robin Padilla said he will not be accepting any positions in government even if offered by President Rodrigo Duterte whom he supported in the 2016 national election.
He said his support for the candidacy of the former Davao City mayor was not for political gain.
“Hindi ako tumulong kay Mayor para humingi ng position. ‘Yung posisyon na ‘yan, ibinibigay sa mga magna cum laude. Ako, ano lang ako, e, cum laude lang ako. [I did not help Mayor so I can ask for a position. That position should be given to those who graduated magna cum laude. Well, I am just a cum laude],” he jokingly told the Philippine Entertainment Portal.
The outspoken advocate for peace in the Bangsamoro region calls himself a “revolutionary”; saying he has no plans at all to enter government or politics.
“Rebolusyonaryo ako. [I am a revolutionary.] I do not join government. I fight government. Totoo. [It’s true],” he said.
Padilla, however, clarified that President Duterte did not offer him any position in his administration nor is he being convinced to enter politics.
Instead, Duterte has told him that he would listen to any good ideas coming from the actor himself.
“Huwag na natin istorbohin si mahal na Pangulo, masyado siyang busy. Si Presidente naman ang nagsabi, kung meron kang idea at maganda ang idea mo, makakarating sa kanya. [Let’s not disturb our beloved President because he is really busy. The President himself said that if you have any idea and your idea is good, it would reach him],” he explained.
