Aside from the five generals who are allegedly linked to drugs mentioned by President Duterte yesterday at the 69th Anniversary of the Philippine Air Force, he also promised to support them in terms of advanced technology acquisition specifically helicopters.
Quoting from his interview, he said “I am sure kayong mga security forces, you will have all the things that you need…. We will acquire more helicopters and night vision capability. ‘Yan ang nagha-hamper eh. If I have that, then we can improve our performance,”
The 71-year old newly inaugurated president graced the event in his barong paired with his maong as the guest of honor. He lauded the PAF towards the end of the speech after having to focus on his campaign against illegal drugs on most of his speech. He said “Before I forget, I’d like to congratulate and my salute to the Philippine Air Force on their 69th Anniversary. I have seen you in action. I have been mayor for 23 years. We did a lot of things together,”
Lt. General Edgar Fallorina, is the commanding general of PAF. He vowed to support the new administration in giving the country the long over dued security and peace.
Quoting from his interview, he said “The Air Force is fully engaged to support the President’s battlecry for change…It starts from within us in order to make these changes permanent and significant,”
He also boasted on PAF’s maritime patrol and counter-terrorist operations saying “We do not move in circles. We move upwards always. Every step of the way, we become stronger, we become better,”
During the celebration, the PAF showed off the caabilities of the different units and even formed a “69” figure formation of 11 T-41 Primary Trainer Craft and 9 SF-260 Basic Trainer Aircraft at the beginning.
