Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) sent a letter to TAPE Inc. officials President Antonio Tuviera, Vice President Malou Choa-Fagar and creative head Jenny Ferrer to summon them to an inquiry following their episode last Saturday, July 9.
“Due to the program’s ‘Parental Guidance’ (PG) classification, (which allows it a younger audience) and taking into account norms of gender-sensitivity under the law (R.A. 9710), we invite authorized representative/s as well as those of the network concerned conference on 21 July 2016 at 8:30 a.m. at MTRCB Adjudication Room, MTRCB Building No. 18 Timog Avenue Quezon City,” Inquirer quoted MTRCB chairperson Eugenio Villareal’s letter.
During last Saturday’s edition of their segment All for Juan, Juan for All, host and Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III made a sexist comment on their female winner who claims to have been taken advantaged of by her companions in a drinking session.
“Kasalanan ng lahat ng iyan eh ang pag-inom. Kababae mong tao pa-shot shot ka?” the senator was quoted in an ABS-CBN story. [You’re a woman and you’re taking shots?]
Another host Jose Manalo also quipped: “Ano suot mo? Naka-shorts ka, ’no?” [Maybe you were wearing shorts.]
These remarks drew flak from people on social media.
“Horrible remarks. Now, I wonder why did the electorate voted for Tito Sotto. Don’t let fame override necessity,” one user tweeted.
While sexy comedienne Ethel Booba posted: “’Don’t wear shorts so you won’t get raped’ –Society teaches ‘Don’t get raped’ rather than ‘Don’t rape’. Charot!”
