- Manny Pacquiao is going to fight again, confirms Bob Arum
- Now Senator ‘Pacman’ is looking for an opponent , says Arum
- Arum: The question is how can we arrange it (with this schedule as a member of the senate)
Top Rank’s Bob Arum said in a BoxingScene.com interview that eight division world champion and now Senator Manny Pacquiao, who recently announced his retirement, is going to fight again.
Pacquiao, according to Arum, is also looking to come back and the only question is how to arrange it with his schedule as a member of the legislative body.
“He is going to fight. I don’t know what the date is. He is working with the President of the Philippines senate for an appropriate date where he can leave the Philippines for two or three weeks to prepare for the fight,” he said.
The Filipino athlete is currently looking for another opponent according to Arum, and added that Pacquiao will be doing his preparations in the Philippines in any event as he already sits in the senate.
Further, BoxingScene.com’s Steve Kim confirmed as per interview with Arum that the negotiation for a bout with Adrien Broner is already out as “Broner was asking for crazy money that nobody can afford.”
To recall, Pacquiao has already announced his retirement as a boxer after his win against Timothy Bradley. However, history in the boxing industry seemingly shows that a retired boxer can any time announce to “un-retire”.
Manny said, as mentioned on his biography on Wikipedia, “As of now, I am retired,” but later changed his statement into “I’m going to go home and think about it. I want to be with my family. I want to serve the people.”
Pacquiao currently has a professional boxing record of 66 fights, 58 wins, six losses and two draws. Thirty eight of his wins are via knockouts.
The former Sarangani’s first district congressman, on October 5, 2015, formally declared that he is running for the senate under former Vice President Jejomar Binay’s United Nationalists Alliance. “Pacman” won during the May 2016 Philippine Presidential Election garnering more than 16 million votes.
