- Filipinos await for the first State of the Nation Address of the new president
- PCO Secretary Martin Andanar upon reading Duterte’s self-made speech for SONA: It made me cry
- No blame game, no pabonggahan on Duterte’s SONA
Filipinos are waiting for the first State of the Nations Address (SONA) of the newly-elected Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, July 25 at the Batasang Pambansa
Duterte will deliver a self-made-powerful speech on his first SONA that will awaken the patriot in every Filipino, Philippine Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Martin Andanar disclosed as per a GMA News article.
Andanar admitted his first reading of the speech made him cry because of its heart-rending message.
There would be no “blame game” in the president’s speech; confirms Andanar as stated on a CNN Philippines story.
Meanwhile, the traditional pabonggahan in terms of outfits among members of the government and their spouses will be deleted.
Each guest must come in business attire; the goal is to focus the attention of the public to the president’s message and not to revert it to the outfits.
Brillante Mendoza directed Duterte’s SONA for free. The award-winning director said that the program will be “very, very, very simple”.
Among the highlights of his SONA are: (a) signing of the Freedom of Information (FOI), (b) combat against illegal drugs, and (c) release of former president Gloria Arroyo.
The 71-year-old – the oldest to be elected as the President of the Philippine – has successfully graced the presidency after topping the May 9, 2016 election poll with 16,601,997 votes.
