Sorry, but there is no planned reunion.
This was noted by the disbanded American rock band My Chemical Romance in a statement that was posted on Facebook; dismaying thousands of fans who were hoping for a reunion concert.
“We’ve been really touched and blown away by the response to the teaser trailer. We are not touring and there is no reunion planned – only a release for the anniversary of The Black Parade. Thanks so much for continuing to keep MCR in your minds and in your hearts,” the band said on Facebook a day after it posted the mysterious video with the date “9/23/2016.”
Hopes
On Thursday, July 21, My Chemical Romance Facebook page posted a video of a white flag being blown by the wind; as the intro of the song “Welcome to the Black Parade” plays.
Just less than an hour after it was posted, the video reportedly got more than 1.8 million views and 18,000 comments. A lot of Facebook users hoped for a reunion concert.
“The Black Parade 10 Year reunion tour. Only thing that makes sense,” Facebook user J. E. wrote.
“I don’t know what to think, I don’t want to get my hopes up but I’m so excited, especially with the photo change, hoping for a tour or them to reform but only if they’re happy and healthy enough and I can’t wait that long, I just want to know what’s happening!” A.K. expressed.
Reality
On the other hand, My Chemical Romance clarified that there would be no reunion concert. The announcement has dismayed many fans.
“So. You’re officially the ex, that came back, confused the f**k out of me for a day, got me back into the thought of you. Then left the next f***ing day. Except it hurts just as bad as it did years ago,” D.H. wrote.
“Not cool, you knew we were all going to get excited and think it was a reunion or tour. This is not an okay thing to do to all of your fans. There are a million other ways to let us know its a anniversary release and not lead us to think it’s more,” S.W. commented.
“So for the 11 years I’ve been listening to you guys, I’m still never going to get a chance to experience you at a concert. So I cried real tears for literally nothing when I saw that video. I’m super pissed about this,” A.R. expressed.
As of posting, the announcement already has more than 191,000 reactions and nearly 134,ooo shares.
