- Taylor Swift failed to receive a single nomination for 2016 MTV VMA
- Her ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris was nominated for his single “This is What You Came For” which is co-written by Swift
- Kanye West has two nominations for his controversial song “Famous” which sends shots at Swift
From her breakup with DJ Calvin Harris, rumors surrounding her current relationship with Tom Hiddleston, to her heated feud with rapper Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian West – it’s safe to say 2016 is not America’s sweetheart Taylor Swift’s best year.
Things just got worse for the pop star as she failed to receive a single nomination for the upcoming 2016 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA).
Swift released three music videos in 2015 for “Wildest Dreams”, “Out of the Woods”, and “New Romantics” — all of which were overlooked by the award-giving body.
It is possible that Swift didn’t get nominated this year since her latest album, “1989”, came out in 2014 and the 26-year-old pop star already raked in so many awards for “1989” in 2015.
MTV released a video on its Facebook page, announcing the nominations for the award show anticipated this August. In the full list of nominees, Beyoncé takes the lead and received 11 nominations for her works in her recent album, Lemonade.
Swift’s ex-beau, Harris, is also nominated for the song “This is What You Came For” which is co-written by Swift under the pen name Nils Sjöberg.
Incidentally, West is nominated two times for his controversial song “Famous” which infamously said in its lyrics “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / I made that ***** [expletive] famous,” alluding to Swift.
A source told HollywoodLife that the controversial rapper may even perform the song live during the award’s night; giving him the opportunity to blast the pop star on national TV.
“Kanye is looking to do ‘Famous’ live on stage at the VMAs and would love to really rip into Taylor Swift during the performance,” the source said.
The source added: “If Calvin Harris wants to join the stage with him, count Kanye being very interested into that as well.”
