MANILA, Philippines – They’re in a relationship, yes, but they’re not married — and he doesn’t like it.
Commenting on reports of his daughter Nova Princess Parojinog’s link to Herbert Colangco, Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. admitted that she is in a relationship with the man tagged by President Rodrigo Duterte as one of the country’s top drug lords.
However, Parojinog scoffed at Duterte’s claim that Nova Princess — who is the city vice mayor — and Colangco were married since she just recently had her marriage to former basketball player Edgar Echavez annulled.
He added he doesn’t approve of their relationship and wished his daughter would break it off with Colangco.
Parojinog also denied he’s involved in the illegal drug trade and attributed such reports to his political opponents. He pointed out he himself spearheaded several anti-drug operations in the city; one of which included spray-painting the houses of suspected drug pushers for easy identification.
He said he would gladly welcome any investigation so he could be given an opportunity to clear his name.
“I welcome any investigation so that I will have the opportunity to clear my name,” he said.
Aside from the mayor and vice mayor, reports floating on social media have also tagged his brother Councilor Richard Parojinog, Sinacaban Mayor Crisanto Mahilak, Clarin Mayor David Navarro and Lopez Jaena Mayor Michael Gutierrez as alleged protectors of drug lords in their areas.
Colangco, who has been serving time in the New Bilibid Prison for various robbery charges, was earlier identified by Duterte as one of the country’s biggest drug lords.
