- His accomplice was found hiding in a toilet on the train
A nearly six-foot tall Eritrean man was caught emerging from a suitcase at a train station in Switzerland.
According to an article written by Clara Lindh for CNN, the 21-year-old man had smuggled himself inside a suitcase disguised as his friend’s luggage, to cross the border from Italy into Switzerland.
Several train passengers claimed and alerted the authorities that they heard moans coming from the suitcase as the train entered Switzerland.
The border guards removed the suitcase from the train and were surprised with what they found out.
As seen on the video shot by a Swiss border guard and shared on Youtube by AllNews247, the man’s fingers were sticking out from the suitcase and he struggled to get out after he has been discovered by the border guards, who helped fully unzip the suitcase.
According to an article published by Mail Online, the Swiss police already planned to stop the train because they received a call from Italian colleagues that two Eritreans were attempting to enter Switzerland and travel northwards across Europe to Britain.
A Swiss police source told The Sun: “The information was that one man was hidden in a suitcase and another man was traveling with him. The suitcase was pointed out to us and the man found inside. He was in his 20s and we found his friend hiding in a toilet on the train.’’
The two Eritrean men did not carry any documents and they were both sent back to Italy.
According to reports, since May 30, these two men were among the more than 3,400 migrants who attempted to enter Switzerland’s Ticino region, where the man inside the suitcase and his accomplice were busted.
