When President Rodrigo Duterte took his oath at 12PM on June 30, Thursday, there was about 15 minutes of lull time in the live program before the official oath-taking took place.
What could have been a boring 15 minutes filled with small talks with other public figures, this man turned into his 15 seconds of fame by getting his funny face on national TV.
The same question plagued the minds of those who have seen his stunt: Who exactly is this guy?
Meet Alexis Lumbatan, a Davao-based lawyer who happens to be friends with the Duterte family.
“I am a happy person, simula noong maliit pa ako. Gusto ko good vibes lang,” Lumbatan told ABS-CBN News.

Lumbatan said he wanted to spread cheer among the viewers while waiting for the program to start. In case you are wondering, he said that he was on his best behavior for the rest of the solemn rites.
“Well, naghihintay kami lahat, I was thinking ibang tao dun, happy mood nila. So sana may maiambag ako, pa-good vibes na lang,” he added.

Apparently this isn’t the first time he pulled such stunt, as shown in the video shared by Mugstoria in its Facebook page, Lumbatan has been at it since the campaign period. The clip went viral and now has over 3.5M views since its June 30 posting.
Lumbatan shared that he was actively campaigning for Duterte and is proud that his bet won the presidency.
“I saw how people wanted him to be president. I’m looking forward to working with the government,” he added.
