Character actor Julio Diaz, who has appeared in a number of films and television dramas, is grateful for having a second chance in life after surviving a life-threatening aneurysm.
“Talagang nanamnamin kong pagkasarap-sarap na buhay. [I will definitely enjoy the beauty of life],” he told GMA News.
Earlier this year, Diaz had to undergo a cerebral angiogram and coiling to treat the clogging in his brain.
Fellow actors and friends in showbiz pitched in to help fund the expensive surgery.
All 250 members of the Actors Guild pledged to donate P4,000 each to collect the needed amount to pay for the procedure and for the actor’s hospitalization.
Notable personalities including Coco Martin, Jaclyn Jose, Director Dante Mendoza, Mario De los Reyes, Cherry Pie Picache, Edi Estrella, Robin Pandilla, Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, and Gran Rebillesa, all raised funds to help.
In the end, Diaz managed to survive and was cleared of his ailment.
“Medyo may kaunting kirot pa pero so far papagaling na ito. [There is still some pain but so far I am doing alright.] I need more prayer. This angiogram, medyo mahal itong proseso ko ng medication na ito [it is an expensive process of medication]. I’m still looking for resource na pwede kong utangan… Napaka-swerte ko pa din [that I can loan… I am still very lucky.] At the same time kasi 57 na din ako hindi na din ako bata [since I am now 57, I am no longer young],” he told ABS-CBN News after he recovered.
