Conor “The Notorious” McGregor will fight Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. in one condition – the money should be evenly split between them.
The UFC superstar has long been rumored that he’ll fight retired former pound-for-pound king who said in previous interviews that he’ll come out of retirement if his opponent is McGregor whom he described as ‘one of the best MMA fighters to ever stand up and do it’.
Mayweather even shared a ‘poster’ seemingly promoting the Mayweather-McGregor showdown on his Instagram and Facebook accounts.
He also disclosed that his team, Al Haymon and Leonard Ellerbe, has locked down some dates, in different countries, in different cities in the United States for the possible fight.
McGregor’s coach, John Kavanagh, said there are rumors that McGregor would get $ 7m and Mayweather would get the rest of the money if they indeed face each other inside the boxing ring.
The Straight Blast Gym– Ireland (SBG) head coach said in an interview with Business Post: “It would have to be an even split. Conor is not going to take it if Floyd is getting more than him. Floyd needs Conor more than Conor needs Floyd right now.”
He admitted that Mayweather is an amazing boxer but he believes that McGregor can give the former his first ever defeat inside the boxing ring.
“Floyd is amazing. He is incredible. I don’t think there is a boxer who could beat him. He has figured out boxing, but Conor doesn’t move like a boxer,” Kavanagh said.
As of now, their camp is focusing on McGregor’s rematch against Diaz which would take place at 170lbs and at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 20.
