- The top drug lord of Cebu City killed in a raid in Las Piñas
- The death of Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz was announced by Cebu City Mayor Tommy Osmeña on Facebook
- Osmeña said Diaz was setting up a new base of operations in Luzon
Cebu City Mayor-elect Tomas Osmeña announced on his Facebook page that a top Cebu City drug dealer was killed in a raid by Cebu police.
Jefrrey “Jaguar” Diaz, tagged by Mayor Osmeña as Cebu City’s top drug lord, and a bodyguard were shot dead Friday night, June 17, during an encounter with Cebu Police in Las Piñas City.
“Cebu’s top drug lord, Jaguar, is dead. Neutralized in a Las Piñas raid by Cebu police less than an hour ago. More details to follow,” read Osmeña’s post on Facebook.
Just recently, “Jaguar” told dyRF in an exclusive interview that he already left the drug business and expressed willingness to help the authorities in catching other drug personalities. He even asked for forgiveness from his victims and offered to personally surrender to President-elect Rodrigo Duterte.
“I ask forgiveness to those who I have victimized in the past. I just want to live the rest of my life in peace. I swear on my family’s life that I have stopped pushing. As God is my witness, all I want is to sleep in peace and to be able to walk without fear for my life,” Jaguar said.
However, Mayor Osmeña apparently did not believe every word Jaguar said.
“His statement that he was retiring was false. Surveillance revealed that he was setting up a new base of operations in Luzon,” the Cebu City mayor said.
Mayor Osmeña said “Jaguar” was tracked in Las Piñas by the Regional Intelligence Division-7 headed by Col. Rex Derilo and Regional Special Operations Group-7 headed by Col. George Ylanan.
