- Former high government official identified drug lord who wants Duterte, incoming PNP chief killed
- He said drug lord is the mastermind behind the plot and is still imprisoned in Bilibid
- He attested to the info, said “intelligence sources” within the prison were able to know his plan
MANILA, Philippines – A former senior government official has named the drug lord purportedly behind the P50-million plot to have President-elect Rodrigo Duterte and the incoming Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa killed.
In an interview with the Manila Times, the official identified the mastermind as notorious convicted drug lord Peter Co who is still locked up in New Bilibid Prisons (NBP).
“We have different sources yet the information is the same. We have a saying that where there is smoke there is fire. Peter Co is said to be the drug kingpin who raised the issue of bounty,” he said.
According to the official, Co, who is currently incarcerated in Bilibid’s maximum security Building 14, is the one goading the other drug kingpins into going along with his plan.
There are other big-time drug traffickers with him but he is now said to be the one running the show,” he said.
The source added that Co, despite being in prison, has continued his operations unabated. He said what Co is offering for Duterte’s death is “peanuts” compared to what the president-elect is offering for every drug lord killed.
“P5 million is for one-time killing only. What if the drug lord offered P5 million a month just to keep himself alive?” the source asked.
Duterte, the country’s incoming president, has set a P5 million reward for every killed drug lord, P3 million for mid-level kingpins, and P50,000 for small-time dealers.
Earlier, Dela Rosa revealed that the country’s top drug lords were P50 million each for their heads in a bid to stop them from implementing Duterte’s massive anti-crime drive.
