MANILA, Philippines – The much-awaited face-off of controversial actors Baron Geisler and Kiko Matos in the URCC Fight Night on Saturday, June 25 at Valkyrie, The Palace, Uptown Bonifacio Global City (BGC), ended in a unanimous draw.
According to an article published by ABS-CBN News, Matos was seen as the more aggressive fighter as he landed successive punches to Geisler but in the second round, it was Geisler who came out strong.
However, neither of the two actors was able to land decisive blows.
Geisler admitted that he’s been very complacent and praised Matos for doing his homework because he seemed superior when it came to ground fighting.
“I respect Matos. I think masyado lang akong naging kampante (I’ve been very complacent). But my team is proud of me because I only trained for five days,” he said.
“I just took the challenge. I don’t pick fights and I never back down. I still feel I’m the winner here, we both are,” he added.
As for Matos, he said that he’s okay with the decision.
“Hindi ko naman habol ang manalo, ayaw ko lang matalo. OK lang ang draw,” the indie film actor said.
[I wasn’t aiming to win, I just didn’t want to lose. It’s okay that the fight was a draw.]
Matos also clarified that the yellowish liquid he sprayed at Geisler during their weigh-in on Friday, June 24 at the BAMF MMA Center in Parañaque City was actually beer and not pee.
As previously agreed when they decided to accept the fight invitation, the two actors hugged in the middle of the URCC cage and made peace after their fight.
