- He supported President-elect Rodrigo Duterte, while Kris actively campaigned for Mar Roxas
“It’s Showtime” and “Gandang Gabi Vice” host Vice Ganda broke his silence regarding the rumored rift between him and his good friend Kris Aquino.
The rumors began when the two showbiz personalities supported different candidates last election.
Although Vice did not endorse the candidacy of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte last campaign period, it is known that he is a supporter of the incoming president, while Kris actively campaigned for Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas.
Vice clarified that all is well between him and Kris.
Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) quoted the comedian-TV host as saying in an interview on Wednesday, June 8: “Walang isyu ever since. Hindi naman kinakailangan na pare-pareho ng opinyon, na pare-pareho ng paniniwala. May mga differences tayo and we all just have to accept that.”
[There’s no issue ever since. It’s not necessary for us to have the same opinion and beliefs. We have differences and we all just have to accept that.]
Vice also emphasized that his home network, ABS-CBN, never interfered with their employees’ personal beliefs and added that the management did not make an issue out of his decision to attend “DU31: One Love, One Nation Thanksgiving Party” of President-elect Duterte on June 4 in Davao City’s Crocodile Park.
“I personally don’t see anything wrong with that kasi (because it’s a) thanksgiving party naman yun, hindi naman siya kampanya (it’s a campiagn,” he added.
He was supposed to be among the performers at the thanksgiving party but heavy rains and a power outage forced him to cancel his performance.
Vice had been very excited over his performance at the thanksgiving party; describing the event as a “celebration of hope”.
ABS-CBN News quoted him as saying: “Nakaka-excite. Kaya masaya ako kasi hindi lang naman ito celebration ng victory ni Mayor Duterte, celebration din ito noong hope ng 16 million na katao na naghahangad ng isang malaking pagbabago sa Pilipinas.’
[It’s very exciting. That’s why I am happy because this is not just a celebration of Mayor Duterte’s victory. This is a celebration of hope of the 16 million people who wanted a big change for the Philippines.]
