President Benigno S. Aquino III expressed elation over the public’s show of appreciation which was accorded to him on the eve of Father’s Day when he had a dinner at a mall.
The outgoing President happily narrated before the Ateneo de Manila University graduating class of 2016 his experience that day, an article written by Nikko Dizon on Philippine Daily Inquirer stated.
“Sa palapag na ‘yun, magkakatabi ang mga restawran. May isang mesang bumati agad at nakipagkamay. Maya-maya po, marami nang nagpapalakpakan, pati sa mga katabing mga kainan. Napatanong po ako sa aking sarili: Nagpapalakpakan ba sila dahil sa tuwa sa akin, o masaya silang aalis na ako?,” Pres. Aquino was quoted saying making his audience burst into laughter.
[In that floor the restaurants are adjacent to each other. One group approached and shook hands with me. Later, a lot of people began clapping their hands even from the adjacent eateries. I then asked myself: Did they clap their hands out of appreciation or were they happy because I am leaving?]
With a smile on his face, the president answered with: “Palagay ko po ang tamang sagot: Sa dami ng nagpa-picture, malamang natuwa naman po sila sa’tin.”
[I think the right answer to that is: With the number of people who approached me for picture taking, I am sure they appreciated us.]
An alumnus of the university, Pres. Aquino earned his economics degree from the Ateneo 35 years ago.
Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. earlier revealed that the outgoing president of the republic has started packing up, and is more than ready to step down from his post at noontime of June 30.
