President–elect Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s former wife, Elizabeth Zimmerman said that she will attend Duterte’s inauguration in Malacañang on June 30 that her children may absolutely show up and intends to ask the Presidential Management Staff to be seperately seated from the next Chief Executive’s present partner. As the mother of Sarah Duterte (Davao City Mayor), Paulo Duterte (Davao City Vice Mayor) and Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, Zimmerman seemingly stated her wish to be separated so as to keep any awkward moments from happening between her and Honeylet Avanceña from reports on Friday.
Her request to the PMS, “We sit separately with my children and with my grandchildren.” Speaking on to reporters at the photo exhibit on Thursday of photojournalist Rene Lumawag (who has followed Duterte’s storied political career), Zimmerman said that her attendance at the oath-taking ceremony is also what her children wanted.
Duterte and Zimmerman’s 27-year marriage ended in 2000 over accusations of infidelity on the incumbent Davao City Mayor’s part. Though during the interview, Zimmerman revealed that “even up to now” Duterte is still taking care of her. Saying, “When he goes abroad, there is always something for me.”
And on the other hand, Honeylet Avanceña, mother of Duterte’s youngest daughter Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, has yet to express her reaction to Zimmerman’s statements as of now on June 25.
