The original actors of the classic television drama series of ABS–CBN’s “Mara Clara” reunited on Saturday, June 25, leaving fans and followers longingly remember the past. It is 1990s show that tells a story of then child actress Judy Ann Santos‘ meek character, Mara living in the slum life that was meant for then child actress Glady’s Reyes‘ villanius character, Clara.
Reyes took to Instagram to share the photos she have with Santos and co-stars Christopher Roxas, who is now her husband, and Wowie De Guzman. The picture was taken at a reunion party were the attendees consists of: Paolo Contis, Angelika dela Cruz, Susan Africa, Eagle Rigg, Debbie Espileta, Juan Rodrigo, Jochelle Olalia and Minnie Aguilar.
Cherished by Filipinos, the soap opera created by Emil Cruz ran for five years. In 1996, it produced a film adaptation and remake six years ago, starring actresses Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes.
The drama was first planned to be aired as ABS-CBN’s afternoon block, but was later changes to primetime to stand against Mexican telenovela, “Marimar.”
On the other hand, back then, Santos’ apparent onscreen chemistry with De Guzman also led them top billing their very own series, “Esperanza.”
