- Celebrity endorser defended LP standard bearer, said he’s been taking the blame for things not his fault
- He called on the grandstanding ‘know-it-alls’ to shut up if they won’t even vote at all
- He also appealed to the public to get to know the candidates more and remain open-minded
MANILA, Philippines – Coming to the aid of his presidential bet, actor Daniel Padilla defended Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Mar Roxas and described him as a ‘martyr’ willingly taking the blame for the government even if he himself had nothing to with some of the latter’s screw-ups.
“I see Kuya Mar as a martyr. Because it’s like all the things the government can’t do, Sir Mar does it, but in the end, he’s still taking the blame. At least he’s doing something, right?” he told Rappler.
Turning to Roxas’ detractors, Padilla urged them to take their foot off the gas pedal and research their information well before hurling it at the administration bet.
“Before you act or say something, make sure you know what you’re talking about. Let’s not be too aggressive. Make sure that whatever you say, you can back it up,” he said.
The actor also had some choice words for the keyboard generals and ‘know-it-alls’ who were blasting Roxas yet have no plans of voting in the end.
“Don’t keep on talking and talking if you don’t know what’s going on in the elections. There are so many know-it-alls when it comes to the elections and yet they are not even registered voters. So just shut up if you are not a voter,” he said.
While acknowledging the people’s right to their own opinion, Padilla nevertheless appealed to them to remain open-minded about their choice of candidates.
“Let’s be open-minded about everything. We’re humans, not machines. We have minds and hearts, and we should be inclined to vote for a president who is human and not a machine,” he said.
