Hamburger? Really?
We don’t know if it’s a regular burger, a cheeseburger, or a double, but Mar Roxas certainly itched for a hamburger after a very long day; the election, the vote counting, and finally the concession. He went to a burger joint along Katipunan Avenue after the press conference and speech, and satisfied his craving.
According to Inquirer, students who spotted the usually ‘serene’ and ‘at peace’ Roxas came up to him and offered him some prayers. Josh Torres posted their photo with Roxas on Twitter and captioned it:
“And at the end of it all, you’re still just man. Limited and flawed, but God is greater and so is His love. @MARRoxas”
Earlier, Roxas delivered a genuine, sentimental dialogue to his supporters, campaign staff and the media. He also congratulated presumptive president Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte; saying: “Digong, I wish you success. Ang iyong tagumpay ay tagumpay ng ating sambayanan at ng ating bansa [Your success is the success of every Filipino and our country].”
Roxas then turned to his crying supporters who never ceased to back him up, and told them:
“I read somewhere that it is not the battle or the conquest that we remember. But the soldier who stood beside us, na tumutoo sa atin [who stayed true to us], who we treasure the most. Sa inyong lahat, maraming-maraming salamat. Hindi ko po kayo makakalimutan [To all of you, thank you so much. I won’t forget you all].
“I love you all!”
He ended his speech with a reminder to all:
“There are many tears in the room. Let me tell you this is not a time for tears.
“For our country, we have had a peaceful successful transfer of power. It’s not about me. It’s not about anyone. It’s about how we love our country and how we’ll do all that we can for her. She’s the only one.”
Kudos, Mar, for being a true gentleman.
