Following reports that Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla dumped Vice President Jejomar Binay for Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Senator Nancy Binay said there is no strain in the relationship between his father and the Cavite governor.
“May narinig ba kayo sa kanya na sinasabi niya na iniiwanan na niya ang ating Vice President? Wala rin naman siyang sinabing ganoon. So, hintayin na lang natin,” the lady senator said.
[Did you hear him [Remulla] say he’s leaving our Vice President? He said nothing of that sort. So let’s just wait]
“Ako siguro hanggang hindi ko naririnig mismo kay Governor Jonvic, hindi ako maniniwala na iniwanan na niya kami. Baka, ‘di ba panahon ng eleksyon ngayon… kanya-kanyang ligaw ang nagaganap,” the vice president’s daughter added.
[I won’t believe anything unless I personally hear it from Governor Jonvic himself. I won’t believe he will leave us. It’s the election season so a lot of wooing is happening.]
ABS-CBN mentioned that the lady senator revealed she had lunch with the governor before he left for the United States. Nancy Binay said Governor Remulla reassured her of his support for Vice President Binay.
“Before he left for the States, nag-lunch pa kami. In fact, noong bago kami maghiwalay, ang sabi pa niya sa akin, ‘Sabihin mo sa akin kung kailan pupunta si Vice sa Cavite and I will arrange it for him. Kung gusto niya mag-motorcade, kung gusto niyang mag-rally,” Senator Binay disclosed.
[Before he left for the States, we had lunch. In fact, before we parted ways, he told me ‘Tell me when the vice president is coming over to Cavite and I will arrange it for him if he wants a motorcade or a rally’]
However, Senator Binay said she won’t be surprised if reports of the governor’s jumping over to the Duterte camp proved to be correct.
In this election, everything is possible, she explained.
