A man suspected to be a member of a group that sold party drugs to people who attended an open-air concert in Pasay City that left five people dead because of alleged drug overdose was nabbed by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
NBI Anti-Illegal Drugs Division Chief Atty. Joel Tovera identified the arrested suspect as 23-year-old Joshua Habalo.
The NBI operatives arrested Habalo in a party at the House of Manila Club inside the Remington Hotel in Pasay City late Friday evening, May 27.
As mentioned in Argyll Cyrus Geducos article published by Manila Bulletin on May 28, 2016, Atty. Tovera said they received a tip that Habalo organized a party event at the House of Manila Club.
After confirming the information, NBI agents went undercover and made a VIP reservation to the event via SMS that led to the arrest of Habalo.
Senior Investigator Salvador Arteche Jr. said the suspect approached the undercover agents and mingled with them for about two hours. Habalo sold five pieces of pink ecstasy tablets to the NBI agents for P1,500 each.
Habalo was nabbed after receiving the marked money from the undercover agents. Seized from him were the marked money, two transparent sachets containing five pink ecstasy tablets each, a transparent sachet of three green capsules suspected to be “green amore”, and five transparent sachets of suspected cocaine.
Also recovered from Habalo was his personal cellphone where a video of the Close Up Forever Summer concert was discovered. He, however, denied selling drugs during the open-air concert.
The NBI said Habalo has provided them with names of 10 groups that sold party drugs at the Close Up concert.
