- Losing senatorial candidate said she is handling her loss well
- She said she never fully committed to run for senator, is still quite happy with the results
- She added she believes she lost because God has something better for her
MANILA, Philippines – Not giving it her all in the recently-concluded national elections turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Alma Moreno.
In an interview with ABS-CBN, the losing senatorial candidate said she is taking her loss quite well since she never fully committed to it and because she believes God has a greater plan for her.
“Hindi naman talaga ako nangarap talagang maging senador eh. Siguro nakita ni Lord na hanggang dito ka lang. May dahilan lahat si Lord. May reason iyan. Mayroon kang mas magandang pupuntahan,” she said.
[I really wasn’t dreaming to be a senator. Maybe the Lord saw this was as far as I can go. The Lord has reasons for everything. You will be part of something greater.]
In fact, Moreno said she would have felt a lot more worried should she have made it inside the “Magic 12” list. Despite the loss, she added she’s still happy many people voted for her.
“Natuwa ako kasi maski papaano ay may boto ako. At hindi lang, number 24 ako. So hindi mo puwedeng sabihin na nandoon ako sa babang-baba. Mayroon pa rin palang nagmamahal sa akin,” she said.
[I’m happy because I still got votes somehow. And that’s not all, but I’m also number 24. So you can’t say I’m at the bottom. There are still those who love me after all.]
A bet under Vice President Jejomar Binay’s United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), Moreno garnered notoriety after her disastrous interview with ABS-CBN host Karen Davila which saw her fail to give critical answers to several important national issues.
