MANILA, Philippines – At least they’re keeping their promise, right?
Quezon City-based Quim’s Cake Bakeshop and Cafe announced it will keep its end of the bargain and distribute P5 million worth of free cakes after its pastry chef Jack Labang lost his bet on Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte running and winning the presidential race.
On its Facebook page, the bakeshop told samplers to like its page and register first so they could be accommodated.
According to the mechanics, the giving out of free cakes will start every 1st and 15th of the month every 3 to 5 PM starting July. Only the first 50 people for those particular days will be accommodated.
The bakeshop also described as fake an FB post saying it will give away the P5 million worth of cakes in one go on June 30.
Once and for all, this is to clarify that this event (posted below) is fake. There’s no such thing. Please be guided accordingly,” Quim’s said. “As earlier announced here in our FB page, our first cake-giving for the first batch of pre-registered 50 slots is on July 1. Please read our mechanics on FB on how to register.”
In his bet, Labang said he would give away free cakes if Duterte runs and wins in the elections.
“If your bet wins, I will make P5 million worth of cakes to give you, just make sure he wins. Mark my word,” he said.
