- Bradley voiced out his support for Manny Pacquiao’s political aspirations
- He said Pacquiao is the only one out there that is going to do right for the Filipino people in the Philippines
- He wished the Filipino boxer-turned-senatorial candidate good luck in his campaign
During their final press conference on Wednesday, April 6, at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, American boxer Timothy Bradley Jr. sounded like Manny Pacquiao’s campaign manager as he heaped praises that amounted to an endorsement of the Filipino boxer’s political aspirations.
Andrew L. John of The Desert Sun mentioned in his article dated April 6, 2016 that Bradley, who is stepping inside the ring with Pacquiao for the third time on Saturday, April 9, initiated a political talk during the press conference when he voiced out his support for his opponent’s bid to become a senator of the Philippines in the May 9, 2016 elections.
The 32-year-old American fighter explained why the Filipino people should vote for Pacquiao.
“I read something the other day that someone said that Manny Pacquiao, in order to win his campaign, in order to win what he wants to do, that he has to win this fight. I think that is baloney. I think that is garbage,” he said.
“I think, honest to God, this fight doesn’t have anything to do with what this man has shown to the Filipino people, where he’s from. He is truly, truly, to me, the only one out there that is going to do right for the Filipino people in the Philippines — the only one. Whoever wrote that needs to stop, because he’s shown, over and over, that he’s for the people and he’s by the people and that he’s a man of his word,” added.
Bradley then wished Pacquiao good luck in his campaign.
“I wish you truly, truly win. I really do,” he told Pacquiao.
