• Sen. Bongbong Marcos said he had fun in the vice presidential debate despite the mudslinging
• He shrugged off the tirades against him as a “standard political strategy”
• He said he will not hold a grudge against any of his rivals
His rivals ganged up on him during the vice presidential debate, but Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. described the event as “fun.”
“”Masaya, masaya yung debate kagabi,” he said.
[The debate last night was fun]
During the debate on Sunday, April 10, that was sponsored by the Commission on Elections and organized by CNN Philippines in partnership with Business Mirror, almost all of his rivals took turns in trying to demolish him with their hardline tirades.
A Politiko article dated April 11, 2016 mentioned that Senator Gringo Honasan, a key player in leading the military to turn back against President Ferdinand Marcos, Bongbong’s late father, at the height of the EDSA People Power uprising in February 1986, was the only one silent in hitting the younger Marcos.
Bongbong just shrugged it off, saying it was just a “standard political strategy” of candidates who are trying to catch up with the front runner.
Marcos is currently the frontrunner in the vice presidential race, according to the result of the latest survey conducted by Social Weather Station.
“Alam mo that is a standard political strategy, pagka gusto mong gumanda ang numbers mo e you attack the one who is leading. So, ganyan naman talaga. Expected ko naman yan e kayat hindi ako nagugulat,” he said during a press conference in Jaro, Iloilo.
[That is a standard political strategy. If you want your numbers to improve, you attack the one who is leading. That’s the way it is. I expected it, so, I was not surprised]
He said he did not take the attacks personally and will not hold a grudge against any of his rivals.
