PDP-Laban standard bearer and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has downplayed the alleged assassination plot against him that went viral on social media; saying that anything could actually happen according to the “plan of God.“
In an article written by Nestor Corrales for Philippine Daily Inquirer on April 21, 2016, it was disclosed that the presidential aspirant said that he is entrusting his life to what is being dictated to him by destiny.
“I live my destiny. Kung ano ang destiny sa buhay ko, ‘yan ang masusunod. Kung mamatay ako sa kampanya, that is my destiny [Whatever my life’s destiny is, it is to be followed. If I die during the campaign, that is my destiny],” Duterte said.
According to Christopher Bong Go, Duterte’s executive assistant, the mayor’s friend and adviser Jose Alejandrino was the one who cautioned the candidate’s camp “to be careful and alert.”
However, Duterte shrugged off the warning; saying that keeping the elections period orderly “is the job of the police.“
“I don’t know, it will be credible, maybe true or not. I said, if it is my destiny to die, welcome, so be it, so be it. If God would allow me to continue to live or not, still that is destiny — that is the plan of God for me,” he said.
A few days ago, a certain Francis Bundoc Besin exposed on his Facebook account an alleged plot to assassinate the mayor in exchange of P10 million.
According to Besin, a reliable source told him that two assassins using high-powered sniper rifles provided by PNP sympathizers were hired to execute the plan.
