- Pacquiao’s new mouth guard has UNA logo
- The mouth guard also sports the Philippine tri-color
- There’s no confirmation if he will wear this on his upcoming fight with Bradley
A photo of the mouth guard that Manny Pacquiao will supposedly wear on his upcoming fight with Timothy Bradley was posted on Twitter by Dr. Ed dela Vega on Thursday, March 17.
De la Vega, a US-based Filipino dentist wrote: “Guess who gets to use this on April 9th?”
Unlike the bright and multicoloured mouth guard the Filipino boxing icon used when he fought Floyd Mayweather Jr. last year, the new mouth guard sports the Philippine tri-color and also features the logo of the political party United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).
Pacquiao, who is serving as a congressman in the Philippines is running under UNA as a senator.
According to an article published by GMA News Online, the design again raises questions if it can be considered a form of political propaganda and if it violates Republic Act 9006 or the Fair Elections Act.
There is no confirmation from Pacquiao’s camp if he will be wearing the mouth guard on April 9.
The ‘Pambansang Kamao’ previously said he is ready to retire and just focus on his growing political career.
He used to be very firm that his third faceoff against Timothy Bradley will be his last fight. However, now that the scheduled fight date draws near, it seems that he is having second thoughts about retiring.
Perhaps his decision will be based on the outcome of the fight and the election result in May.
According to an article written by Lance Pugmire for Los Angeles Times, Pacquiao said on Monday, March 14, after closing his first day of training camp at the Wild Card Boxing Club: “We do not know. It’s hard to say if I’m finished. I can’t say I don’t want to come back. My decision will come after this fight. I’ll go back to the Philippines and … [might] have a new job to do and be focused on.”
