- Suspect in the murder of a woman and her child inside house in Sta. Rosa, Laguna surrenders
- He points to the husband of the woman as the brains behind the murder
- He says he and cohort were offered P60,000, were told wife was having an affair
MANILA, Philippines – One of the suspects tagged in the brutal home invasion in Sta. Rosa, Laguna last March 2 has surrendered —and he has pointed to the victim’s husband as the mastermind.
Ramon Gallo, 25, surrendered to Celso Dioko, village chair of Brgy. Cupang, Muntinlupa City, at around 11 AM on Friday, March 18. According to Dioko who told the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Gallo turned himself over because he was filled with guilt over the crime.
“He said he decided to surrender because he was bothered by his conscience,” he said; adding that Gallo pointed to the victim’s husband, Richard Sta. Ana, as the mastermind in an interview past midnight.
According to Gallo, Sta. Ana — whom he referred to as ‘boss’— paid him and his cohort to kill his wife Pearl Helene, 29, and their son Denzel because he found out she was having an extramarital affair.
“He said they were paid P60,000 for the project,” Dioko said. “He said the killing was a project. He said the man they called ‘boss’ wanted to exact revenge (on) the victim. He said they were told the victim was having an affair.”
Pearl and her son were found bloodied inside their home after the killers — posing as Internet repairmen — bludgeoned them to death with a hammer. In the aftermath, police tagged the husband as a ‘person of interest’ based on his refusal to turn over his cell phones for forensic analysis and information from the victim’s friend that she was having an extramarital affair.
