MANILA, Philippines – The vice presidential race is getting tighter and tighter.
With the 2016 elections only two months away, Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo made a big jump in her ratings according to the latest poll results of Social Weather Stations (SWS).
According to the survey firm which conducted the poll face-to-face in the period from March 4 to 7 among 1,800 registered voters divided equally in Metro Manila, North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas, North Mindanao and South Luzon, Robredo gained five percentage points from her previous score of 19 percent in February to finish in third place with 24 percent.
Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero, on the other hand, remained the top choice with 28 percent — a jump of two percentage points from his previous 26 percent.
Meanwhile, Sen. Bongbong Marcos finished at second place with 26 percent which remained unchanged from his previous score.
Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano was the biggest loser in the latest poll; dropping five percentage points from his previous 16 percent to finish at 11 percent.
Senators Antonio Trillanes and Gringo Honasan exchanged scores and places; with the former finishing at fifth place with six percent and the latter with five percent for last place.
Renewed Inspiration and Strength
Reacting to her latest score, an ecstatic Robredo said it has given her renewed hope to continue her campaign.
“Sa resultang ito, nabigyan tayo ng panibagong inspirasyon at lakas sa paghahatid ng ating adbokasiya, plano at programa hanggang sa pinakamalalayong lugar sa bansa lalo na sa mga nasa laylalayan,” the Philippine Daily Inquirer quoted her as saying.
[With the results, we are given renewed inspiration and strength to present our advocacies, plans and programs in the farthest places especially in the rural areas.]
