- David started the trend of “Foreigners singing Tagalog or OPM songs”, where nearly all of his videos have gone viral and got millions of views from Facebook and Youtube
Youtube sensation David Di Muzio, a singer/songwriter who is tagged as the “Most Popular American who sings Filipino OPM songs” expressed his personal opinion over the “I Love OPM” results on his Facebook fanpage on Sunday, March 14, 2016.
“I was impressed by Anna Rabtsun’s latest performance on I Love OPM. Jeff James did a great job as well. Was sad to see them go, but as charming as Yohan Hwang is, he wouldn’t have been my personal pick for 2nd,” David said on his Facebook post.
For David, Jeff James should’ve gotten a higher score than Yohan Hwang; saying that “I would’ve picked Moses, Anna, Jeff, Yohan in that order based on those vocal performances.” However, he still wishes everyone good luck on the competition.
David is the one who started the trend of “Foreigners singing Tagalog or OPM songs”. Almost all of his videos went viral and got millions of views from Facebook and Youtube. He then became an inspiration and an icon for other foreigners to do their own OPM song covers.
I Love OPM received negative comments from viewers and netizens after giving Yohan Hwang a higher score than Hawaii’s Jeff James which resulted to his elimination from the show last Saturday, March 12, 2016.
Many expressed their preference over Jeff’s “Kung Ako Na lang Sana” which commenters said showed more emotion than Yohan Hwang’s “Nasa Iyo Na Ang Lahat” which is a very easy song for a singing competition.
Disappointed viewers also made a dedicated page for Yohan where they criticized his talent and performance.
This made Jeff James asked his followers to stop hating, and rather, to keep on supporting Yohan and the rest of his friends who are still on the competition.
“It was really an honor to be on TV singing OPM songs because before I’m just on Youtube doing my OPM covers. I wanted to show people how I really love OPM and thank God for blessing me this chance. Even though I got bumped off I’m happy for them. I’m not gonna give up my dream to continue singing and promote OPM music. To my Friends, Supporters and Viewers. Please continue watching and supporting I Love OPM. Let’s spread the love of Jesus and stop hating,” Jeff said on his Facebook post.
Meanwhile, on a Facebook comment, Yohan Hwang said that he knows Jeff James is better than him and he just got lucky.
“I was just lucky. So I could make it to the next round. It’s not that I was better than him. I know that Jeff is much better than me,” Yohan said.
Well, one thing seems certain. These foreigners who love OPM have become friends, and the competition won’t mar their friendship. After all, they share the same passion for PH songs. So, goodluck, OPMers!
