- Floyd Mayweather Jr. doesn’t want to hear Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch talks
- He believe some people just want to see his downfall
- He says he’s born to dominate in boxing and being defeated wasn’t in his cards
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is fed up that even almost a year after he fought and defeated Manny Pacquiao and several months after he retired from boxing, there are still talks that a rematch will happen between them.
Speaking to Fight Hype, the retired pound-for-pound king said: “I don’t want to hear this anymore, Floyd Mayweather-Pacquiao. That’s over with. That chapter is over with. That’s totally over with. I don’t want to hear nothing else about Mayweather-Pacquiao. That’s not going to ever happen again. That will never happen again. Never. Out of 12 rounds and I win 10 out of 12 rounds, why should I have to prove myself? Blowout!”
He said it doesn’t’ matter if his father, outspoken boxing trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. hinted that if Pacquiao wants to get another shot against him. there’s a possibility he’ll get it again.
“My father can only express his opinion on what he feels, but I’m letting everyone know as of right now, I’m not interested in fighting anyone,” he emphasized.
He believes that there are people who don’t want him to retire because they want to witness his downfall.
He said: “They wanted me to lose throughout my 20-year career and that just wasn’t in my cards. That wasn’t written. When I was born, that wasn’t written. It was written that Floyd Mayweather was going to come into the sport of boxing, dominate, and leave undefeated. That was meant to be. If God wanted me to come back and fight, then that will happen, but as of right now, I don’t want to fight. I’m very comfortable; very, very comfortable, and I’m loving retired life. I’m able to travel the world.”
Last February, he revealed he has been offered a huge amount of money to come out of his retirement and fight once again.
Mayweather told BBC: “It’s been crazy numbers that’s been thrown at me of course, nine figures. You know, I’ve had money thrown at me from so many different countries. If I get the itch to come back, it really won’t be for the money but I’ll have to get paid, that’s why the nickname is Floyd “Money” Mayweather.”
