- Counsel of Josiebell Uy denies foul play in the death of her friend Edgel Joy Durolfo
- He says hold-departure order not needed since Durolfo’s friends not planning to escape
- They will file a counter-affidavit once they have received a copy of the charges
- He questions why manual strangulation was already indicated in the death certificate before the autopsy
MANILA, Philippines – Even as murder raps have been filed against them in connection with Solaire Resort and Casino assistant manager Edgel Joy Durolfo’s death inside a hotel room last February 26, the lawyer of her friend Josiebell Lim Uy denied his client willfully killed the victim.
Speaking to ABS-CBN, Atty. Ruber Gerald Ricasata III said Lim will maintain her position that Durolfo’s death was caused by an accident.
“My client will stick to the story that there’s no foul play and everything is just accidental,” he said. “They took care of her until 7 AM, I think they went to back to the hospital, it’s contrary to what’s being judged against them.”
Commenting on the petition for a hold-departure order against her and the three other suspects, namely: Rodney Ynchausti, Paulo Egoc and Molo Hwang, Ricasata said it was unnecessary because they do not plan to run away.
“She had a good rest this weekend, she knows what’s going to happen,” he said. “The prosecutor’s going to issue a subpoena, we will answer those.”
He added they will file a counter-affidavit once they have received a copy of the charges.
Ricasata also questioned why the hospital’s death certificate indicated manual strangulation even before the police finished their own autopsy on Durolfo’s remains.
“The death certificate already says manual strangulation, that’s before the autopsy became public. In fact hindi ko alam if public pa rin ba ‘yung autopsy,” he said.
