- From 15 seconds, Instagram will now allow 60-second videos
- According to the social media site, there have been a 40% increase in the number of users watching videos on Instagram
- The new feature will be available for everyone in the coming months
Can’t get enough of posting videos on Instagram but left frustrated with the 15-second limit? Well, Instagram’s latest teaser might just be good news for you.
Photo and video sharing site Instagram announced that users would soon be allowed to post videos as long as 60 seconds.
According to its post, the number of users watching videos on Instagram “has increased by more than 40%.”
The allowance for lengthier Instagram videos started rolling out on March 29 but it “will be available for everyone in the coming months,” said the Facebook-owned site in its post.
This feature of Instagram comes amid the popularity of another Twitter-like video sharing platform Snapchat.
According to a story by Forbes, “Longer video clips could also help prevent users from shifting to alternative platforms, such as YouTube or Snapchat in order to get around Instagram’s more restrictive time limit.”
“It will also allow bloggers to provide more engaging content such as make up tips or recipes which would be difficult to cram into fifteen seconds,” Forbes added.
Instagram also noted in its post that the longer videos would open “more diverse stories from the accounts you love.”
Aside from this, Instagram will also bring back the feature that allows Apple users to post videos pieced together from multiple clips in their camera rolls.
The social media platform also downplayed fears that it will be changing the way it presents its feed. Last week, Instagram announced that changes would roll out this week.
“We’re listening and we assure you nothing is changing with your feed right now. We promise to let you know when changes roll out broadly,” Instagram said in a tweet.
