Candy Pangilinan won the Best Actress award in the CineFilipino Festival 2016 after she was recognized for her role in “Star na si Vandamme Stallone.”
In an article written by Bianca Rose Dabu of GMA News, it was disclosed that Pangilinan, who has been a well-known comedienne, was really surprised that she won the Best Actress award because of a dramatic role.
On Instagram, Candy thanked everyone who supported her and the ones who helped her get the aforementioned award.
“First of all, Thank you Lord for this early easter gift. Thank you to Cinefilipino, festival heads and jurors for this recognition and affirmation. Thank you to my family for the support. Thank you to my mom at pinanganak mo ako, eh ‘di ngayon meron ka ng best actress [for giving birth to me, now you have a best actress]. Thank you to my son, you are my inspiration. Thank you to everyone who is a part of our movie ‘Star na si Vandamme Stallone,’” she wrote.
“Thank you to my spiritual mentor, Tita Baby, for journeying with me and encouraging me to do good. Thank you to my friends who pushed me to enjoy and do this first indie film of mine, you know who you are. Thank you to all who loved me, those were affirmations I needed,” she added.
Moreover, she thanked the people who has caused her so much pain, which later on transformed her to become a better person.
“Thank you to those that hurt and abandoned me, those were pains and learning curves that I needed to be better. Thank you to everyone. I am grateful to all because..because… I am just grateful,” she expressed.
It was Pangilinan’s her first time to play the lead role in an independent film and hopefully not the last. More awards to come in the future for her versatility.
