- 8 out of 10 Filipinos said they will vote for candidate supporting the 4Ps
- 4Ps is the government’s social service program that doles out cash to poor families
- All presidential candidates are in support of continuing the program
Most of the voters are likely to pick a candidate who will continue the Social Welfare Department’s conditional cash transfer (CCT) program, said a recent survey released by the Social Weather Stations (SWS).
Eight out of 10 of the 1,200 survey respondents from February 5 to 7 said they would vote for a candidate who will support the CCT, locally known as the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
4Ps is the government’s dole out program that gives out monthly allowances to chosen poor families in exchange of their regular health check up and the children’s regular attendance to school.
GMA News Online said in its story published on March 6 that all presidential candidates are for the continuation of the program – some pledging improvements in the implementation and budgeting.
Aside from the 4Ps, the latest survey also revealed that many voters are keen on the issue of the implementation of the Reproductive Health Law with 66% saying they will vote for the candidates who will push it. The Freedom of Information Law is also a hot issue for voters as 62% considered it an important factor in choosing a candidate.
The survey, with a margin of error of ±3% for national percentages, ±6% each for Metro Manila, Balance of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, were accomplished using face-to-face interviews.
