- Woman reacts to singer’s apology to LGBT community for Manny Pacquiao’s remarks
- She says Christians should love the sinner but should not tolerate the sins
- She hopes Constantino would have a better understand of being a Christian, help her gay brother, too
MANILA, Philippines – Reacting to Yeng Constantino’s viral video showing her apologizing on behalf of Christians to the LGBT community for Manny Pacquiao’s remarks, one woman said the singer misunderstands the word of God and what Christians are supposed to do.
In her letter shared by “Ohmygellai Love Oranges” on her Facebook, a certain Michelle May Mawili told Constantino her having a gay brother might have clouded her own judgment and definition of being a Christian.
“Yeng, you don’t understand. God is holy. And He can’t allow sin. Aren’t you basing on your emotions? Yes, may kapatid kang LGBT. That’s why you are so emotional. You think people don’t understand you. Maybe. But I don’t think you understand God.”
Elaborating, Mawili said Christians should love the sinner but hate the sin.
“Not that we hate the homosexuals. We love them as God tells us to do. But it’s immoral to see homosexuality. See the difference. Homosexual is the person, homosexuality is the act. That is the point. God created us male and female. And we are not created to be like so. Yes, we sinned. But that’s why Jesus came, it is not standing against LGBT, but standing on what God wants,” she said.
Hoping Constantino would someday understand her faith better, Mawili added she also wants the singer to help her gay brother go back to the fold.
“Help your brother know Jesus and restore his identity in Him. And you will see what will happen. God is great and He can do far more than what we could ever imagine. You can love your LGBT brother, so all could but not homosexuality. It’s a sin. You’ve been a Christian to cut the curse, not to tolerate it,” she said.
“I’ll repeat, we don’t hate the person, it is wrong to say, “Hindi lahat ng Kristiyan ganun ang tingin sayo.” Because hindi tao ang tinitingnan dito. Kundi yung kasalanan. Yung homosexuality. God bless you,” ended her post.
