- A billboard ad of Coop-NATTCO party-list representative Cresente Paez gets flak from social media users
- The billboard contains the image of Paez and Mission Impossible movie series lead actor Tom Cruise with pun intended conversation
- Paez is a part of Liberal Party’s senatorial slate for the 2016 national elections
MANILA – A photo of a billboard ad of a senatorial candidate has been generating criticisms from online users since it was shared on social sites.
According to an article published by InterAksyon, the photo was uploaded by Sanriel Chris Ajero. The caption reads: “Best political ad of the year” referring to the uploaded photo of Cooperative-National Confederation of Cooperatives (Coop-NATTCO) party-list representative and senatorial candidate Cresente “Mr. Coop” Paez.
However, the huge billboard did not only contain Paez’s face but was accompanied by Hollywood actor Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, the central character of the Mission: Impossible movie series. It also features a supposedly pun-intended dialogue between the two.
Tom Cruise as Ethan addresses Paez and tells him, “Mr. Paez, this isn’t Mission: Difficult; it’s Mission: Impossible” to which Paez replied, “Mr. Hunt, have faith. It’s PAEZible.”
Social media users were quick to express their thoughts on the billboard ad. One questioned if Paez paid for the license rights to use Cruise’s image and adopt the movie. Some expressed how disappointed they are while others made fun of the billboard ad and created puns such as “Mr. COOPal,” “Paaeza” and “Paez be with you.”
Based from an article by MSN, Alejo said the billboard is located at a strategic place after exiting the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX).
Paez is a Coop-NATTCO representative for three-terms and runs as a senator under the Liberal Party in the 2016 elections.
