- Sen. Marcos is not willing to undergo DNA test for Sen. Poe
- He says there’s no point
- Sen. Poe is rumored to be a daughter of former president, Ferdinand Marcos
MANILA, Philippines – Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said in the past that he is willing to undergo a DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) test to determine possible blood ties with Senator Grace Poe.
However, on Saturday, February 13, the vice presidential candidate said he doesn’t see the point why he should undergo a DNA for the presidential candidate.
ABS-CBN News quoted him as saying: “There is no point… Why will I have a DNA test? Why would it help her?”
Sen. Marcos told the members of the press last November at the weekly ‘Kapihan sa Senado’ forum that he’ll do a DNA test.
“Wala namang makikita dahil anak ako ng tatay at tsaka nanay ko,” he added in jest.
[They won’t find anything since I’m the son of my father and mother.]
He clarified he only said that at the time so that the reporters would stop bugging him on the issue of DNA and his answer was meant to be a joke.
There are rumors that Sen. Grace Poe is an illegitimate daughter of the late President Ferdinand Marcos with former actress Rosemarie Sonora, the mother of Sheryl Cruz and the sister of the lady senator’s adoptive mother, veteran actress Susan Roces.
Both Sen. Poe and Sen. Marcos denied the rumors.
A certain Lorena Rodriguez-Dechavez from Buenavista, Guimaras in Western Visayas claimed that Sen. Poe is the biological daughter of her sister, Victoria, who died of a heart attack in 1996.
Based on her story, the senator was brought from their hometown to Jaro, Iloilo City for adoption.
However, after undergoing a DNA test with the lady senator, the results did not match.
According to an article published by Philippine Star, Sen. Poe on Friday, February 12, informed the public of the result of the DNA test.
