- British man legally changes his name to ‘Bacon Double Cheeseburger’
- 33-year-old Cheeseburger’s former name is Simon Smith; also called Sam
- He says he has no regrets, but his fiancée seems reluctant marrying a Cheeseburger
If someone will send you a friend request on Facebook using the name Bacon Double Cheeseburger, you might just ignore the request; thinking that it’s just a fake account.
But no, it could be a real legal person — as just recently, a man truly became legally named Bacon Double Cheeseburger.
In an article that was published on Fox News, it was disclosed that a British man, 33-year-old Simon Smith a.k.a. Sam Smith, had his name legally changed to Bacon Double Cheeseburger; that was after a night of drinking with his buddies who convinced him to go ahead with the stunt.
“Bacon Double Cheeseburger was pretty much the first thing that came up,” Cheeseburger said; adding that everyone loves bacon.
And so he continued with his plan.
“I’ve got no regrets at all,” he said. “It’s been a very fun experience and it’s made a lot of people laugh.”
On the other hand, the people close to his heart have different reactions over what he did.
“My mum was furious but my dad thinks it’s hilarious. He’s more than happy to use my new name,” he shared.
Meanwhile, his fiancée has been expressing disappointments on his odd decision, and apparently, he understands her.
“My fiancée is fairly reluctant about marrying a Cheeseburger. That’s something we’re discussing a lot. No girl ever dreams of spending her big day marrying a man called Bacon,” he added.
Cheeseburger admitted that another name change might be needed ahead of their wedding though.
But for now, he just enjoys his new name as he proudly signs off his work emails as “B D Cheeseburger.”
Cheeseburger is just one of 85,000 people who changed their names last year by deed poll, as released by name-changing firms, but this guy here is perhaps one of a few who preferred a moniker inspired by fast food.
Quite interesting also is that, according to reports, some people in Britain are discovering that adopting more imaginative names somehow alters how they are treated.
Well, one thing is sure with Mr. Cheeseburger here — he’ll get a lot of smiles and chuckles.
