- Senator Nancy Binay shares a photo of a crowd waiting to greet her father on Christmas day
- She says the photo is a testament of her father’s love for the poor people who love him back in return
- The neopythe lawmaker also laments how her father’s critics try to put a ‘negative twist’ to anything they post on social media just to put him down
MANILA, Philippines – In what could be described as “late upload”, Senator Nancy Binay shared a photo on Facebook on Wednesday, February 24, showing a crowd of people in front of her father’s house in Makati City; allegedly taken last Christmas day.
Senator Binay said the photo was captured last December and the people were supposedly waiting very early in the morning to greet her father, Vice President and opposition presidential candidate Jejomar Binay, on Christmas day.
In her caption, the younger Binay said the photo is a testament that her father has been doing everything in his personal and official capacity to improve the lives of the common people, and yet his detractors seem to be always desperate to find fault in his actions.
“Our usual detractors are circulating a video of a yearly Xmas tradition of our family and putting a negative twist to it,” the neopythe senator wrote.
She added in her caption: “Even before my dad became mayor, he gives token amounts to people especially kids who visit our house on Xmas day.”
Some of the people, Binay claimed, even came from the provinces. It has become a yearly tradition for the elder Binay to share what he can every Christmas, she said, so the people troop to their house as a show of appreciation and gratitude.
“Ang dad ko hindi nakakalimutan ang mga naghihirap tuwing Pasko dahil naranasan niya na ang magpasko na walang-wala,” Senator Nancy wrote. [My dad never forgets the poor every Christmas because he had experienced Christmas before with virtually nothing.]
Senator Binay has been defending her father and the rest of the family from negative criticisms over alleged corruption in Makati City; the city the Binays ruled for almost three decades.
Her brother, former Makati Mayor Junjun Binay, was dismissed and barred from running again for office over the alleged overpriced Makati City parking building.
Her father, VP Binay, is running for president under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) with Senator Gregorio ‘Gringo’ Honasan. The vice president himself is facing plunder charges upon the recommendation of the Senate Blue Ribbon committee that investigated the case.
