- A Facebook post claims DPWH workers are removing Duterte-Cayetano posters, even those placed on private properties
- The post also alleged the men are replacing them with Mar-Leni tarpaulins
- The Facebook page slams the Aquino administration for supposedly manipulating the DPWH into such shameful act
MANILA, Philippines – A Facebook post claimed that some workers from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) have removed the campaign posters of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Alan Peter Cayetano; only to replace them with Roxas-Robredo streamers.
The post, however, did not mention the exact place where the photo was taken.
In the Facebook post of one Paulo Tan, apparently a supporter of the Duterte-Cayetano tandem, pictures of men wearing shirts with the letters ‘DPWH” printed at the back can be seen removing tarpaulins bearing the names and faces of the Davao City mayor and his running mate.
It was captioned with: “Tinatanggal lahat nila mga tarp nila duterte at papalitan ng MARLENI,” the latter posted; referring to the administration and Liberal Party (LP) bets former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas and Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo, or Ro-Ro to their supporters.
[They’re removing Duterte’s tarp (tarpaulin) and are about to replace them with MARLENI.]
The post further said the alleged DPWH men are removing posters that were already inside private properties.
”Pati DPWH minamanipula na ng administrasyong aquino tinatanggal lahat ng mga tarp na ginastusan ng sariling pera ng mga kaDDS natin. Kahit sa bakod na ng bahay nila binaklas pa!” the caption read.
[The Aquino administration are manipulating even the DPWH by ordering it to remove all the tarp which were paid for using the money from our fellow DDS volunteers. They removed them even if it’s already placed on a house fence.]
Just a few days ago, another viral photo purportedly showed some men using a government vehicle with red plate to transport and distribute posters bearing ‘Daang Matuwid’ and Roxas’ name.
The Team Daang Matuwid vehemently denied authorizing the use of a government car for Roxas’ campaign purposes.
Sought for reaction, Malacañang spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said there is no excuse for any candidate to use a government vehicle for election-related activities.
“We’re glad that citizens were vigilant. There is no excuse for the use by the local government of their vehicle by any supporter for any candidate,” Lacierda said in a text message to reporters.
