A bottle of vodka purported to be the world’s most expensive at $ 1.3 million was stolen by an intruder from a bar in Copenhagen on Tuesday, January 2.
The theft was captured by the closed-circuit television camera installed inside the Café 33 located at Dybbølsgade 33, 1721 Copenhagen, Denmark. The footage showed the burglar searching for something using a flashlight. When he found what he was looking for, he grabbed it and fled.
Police investigator Knud Hvass said only the bottle of Russo Baltique vodka was taken and nothing else was stolen. He said they are still trying to determine if the intruder had a key to the bar or had broken in.
As per a BBC story, the bottle was made of gold and silver and has a diamond-encrusted cap made by made by Russian luxury car manufacturer Russo-Baltique to commemorate the centenary of the company’s factory. The bottle is said to be made of bulletproof glass and is 30 centimeters thick.
Café 33 owner Brian Ingberg said the vodka has been featured in the popular American TV drama “House of Cards”.
Mr. Ingberg said he loaned the vodka from a Latvian-based Dartz Motor Company and has been in his bar collection for six months.
Dartz Motor Company owner Leonard Yankelovich is hoping to get the bottle of vodka back.
