Comedian Vice Ganda is one of the most sought-after celebrities on ABS-CBN’s roster of talents. He has his own weekly late night talk show, aside from regularly hosting the noontime show, “It’s Showtime”, on the Kapamilya network. Of course, not to mention starring in a couple of box-office hits, no big deal. Indeed, Vice Ganda has turned himself into a household name in a short time, after working hard from his humble beginnings as a stand-up comedian.
As it turns out, the comedian didn’t always have a sunny disposition in life. In fact, he admitted attempting to commit suicide when he was a young man – after tasting heartbreak.
During the Tawag ng Tanghalan segment of the noontime show last December 16, one contestant shared that Japan had a high suicide rate.
On knowing this, Vice Ganda revealed how he wanted to kill himself because of a love problem.
“[Y]ung suicide, super bad idea. Alam mo ba, na nagpakamatay din ako,” the host recalled, adding that it was just one of the dramas he went through in his difficult life.
“Sixteen years old, nag-try akong mag-suicide because of heart break,” he began.
According to PEP, the self-proclaimed Unkabogable Star was grateful for realizing his big mistake, and finding his purpose to give a better life to his mom.
“Buti na lang talaga hindi ako natuluyan. Ngayon ko nari-realize yung katangahan kong yon,” he pointed out.
The host also gave a word to the wise about being smart in making life-changing decisions so there will be no regrets.
“Kaya we have to be very wise sa mga desisyon natin, kasi isang maling katangahan, hindi na natin talaga maibabalik,” he said.
