The issue over the opulent Malacañang pre-debut photoshoot of Isabelle Duterte has yet to die down. However, another controversy about the presidential granddaughter has been making its rounds online. This time, the said controversy was started by none other than her own father, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte. On December 22, Vice Mayor Duterte took to his official Facebook account to scold his daughter.
In his post, the President’s eldest son attached screenshots of his daughter’s tweets about him. The context of how their argument started was unclear. The Vice Mayor said he just cannot keep quiet after a person ‘pimped’ his daughter. It is unclear what he meant by the said line.

The Vice Mayor’s post was in Visayan, but translated to English, it read:
“I won’t keep quiet after that person pimped you twice! And if your mom and stepdad don’t care about you, I’m not like them! Not because I’m a Duterte but because I am a father!!! Change your last name if you want to! You don’t know how to respect! You are a disgrace. Go to school first so your brain won’t be empty. You no longer know how to listen because you’re supposedly popular? Popular on what Belle? Popular on disrespecting your father??! Just wait for my death so you will be free from me! Pray for it, woman. I know all of us will be humiliated because of this post. But this is what you want! Let’s talk here because you’re a supposed millennial. You only listen to your number of likes. Well, I don’t care if I have a position or I will be humiliated, you are my daughter! I don’t care of other people if this is the only way you will learn from your actions.
P.S.
FIX YOUR F— LIFE FIRST before i will stop “f— up” your christmas every year.”
In Isabelle Duterte’s first tweet, she pertained to a powerful Duterte who supposedly beat up a child. Her tweet read:

“Even if you have a position in the city, you can’t beat up a person! Even if you have power, you can’t hurt another person!!! You are hurting a human being!!! Not just human being, but a child!!! Even if you have a name, you can’t do things like that!!! Even if you’re a Duterte, that is not acceptable.”
The presidential granddaughter, however, specifically mentioned her father in her second tweet:

Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte then continued to scold his daughter in the comments section of his post:
“Her tweet really makes me laugh!!! Really every year[?] I wonder what was her Christmas like when she was one year old.”
He even asked the ‘Dilawan’ to join in:
“Pasikatin ang gustong sumikat….magpakasawa kayo mga dilawan. Hahaha“
The vice mayor also reminded his followers in the comments section to like his post so he would win over his millennial daughter:
“PAHINUMDUM: AYAW MO KALIMOT UG LIKE PARA MAKADAUG KO SA PADAGHANAY UG LIKES SA AKONG MAAYUHONG MILLENIAL NGA ANAK. SALAMAT“
Netizens were quick to react to the vice mayor’s post. A lot of them expressed their support for the vice mayor, saying that calling out his daughter on Facebook is only right as he is merely doing his duty as a father:

Some shared their thoughts on why Isabelle was acting the way she was, and implored the Vice Mayor to give her his understanding:

Others, however, were not so pleased with how Vice Mayor Duterte handled it:
