Are you a firm believer that long distance relationships (LDR) would work? Do you think you can cope with the challenges while being away with your partner? These are some questions we tend to ask whenever we speak of this topic.
Long distance relationships are probably the hardest to handle, and as much as you want to be physically present with your partner, there are lots of factors that prevent you from being together. It doesn’t only require understanding and trust, but it mostly requires patience. Being away from the person you love can be so frustrating and it has that tendency of confusing you with your feelings.
Being able to succumb to so much longing, keeping a long distance relationship is really a test of patience and determination. While couples that live together or close to each to other can solve their differences and misunderstandings by simply giving them hugs, kisses or visiting them in their home right after they’ve had a small fight or argument. However, LDR just relies on fast internet and mobile phones, unless they have enough means to travel back and forth just to fix things after a fight.
However, the story of this Filipino guy and his Canadian girlfriend will make you change your opinions! Nobody knew that the couple would last long considering that they only met through social media. The Canadian woman met Romel, the Filipino who lives in General Santos City in the Philippines, through Facebook way back in the year 2009. And they both didn’t have any idea that one friend request would change their lives.
The two individuals savored their precious time together, and showed it through their photos posted on social media. But, the woman eventually had to head back to Canada, so they had to be separated again. Although their first meeting was cut short, they still continued to support and love each other for a couple more months even when they were miles apart.
She came back to the Philippines again and this time she would already marry the man she loves. The couple tied the knot on August 10, 2013, proving that their love was strong enough to go through the challenges of having a long distance relationship. Today, they are still continuing to inspire many LDR couples, and are constantly proving that distance should not matter if you truly love someone.
Strong couples like them are very much inspiring, because distance really is a sensitive topic to other individuals, and being able to endure that kind of torture is an achievement in the making! It is difficult to grasp the idea of only getting the chance to see and talk to the person you love via internet or phone, because nothing could be better than being able to physically feel and touch them. For sure, LDR couples go through this when they have problems, the kind of problems that could not be easily fixed by only verbal, however, for some weird reason, some couples do. It does get frustrating at times, but for some couples, they are able to make things work.
