Woman dies after becoming victim of extreme domestic violence by her husband

Domestic violence remains one of the most prominent issues in today’s society, particularly those ruled by the patriarchal system. In the Philippines, there are lots of women who suffer beatings from the hands of their husband, usually if the latter is drunk.

However, such incidents also happen in different parts of the world. In Russia, a woman was beaten to death by her own husband after she initially told him she wanted to leave him.

Based on Daily Mail’s report, Maxim Gribanov (34) physically assaulted Anastasia Ovsiannikova (28) by brutally kicking and punching her for several hours.

He even took a video of the attack so that he could boast it to his friends. According to him, he wanted them to see how much his wife was “under control” by him.

Fortunately, the woman managed to call the authorities before she finally succumbed to death. When she arrived at the hospital, her body was filled with severe bruises and her organs suffered internal bleeding from the intensity of the attacks. She also had her bones broken. As a result, she fell into a coma.

Six days after she was rushed to the hospital, she lost her life. Based on the testimony of her own friends and family, she had been wanting to leave her abusive husband after she met someone else.

However, she was scared of the consequences if ever she told him the truth. He had a history of being extremely brutal.

Apparently, he forced her to resign from her job in the town hall. He also threatened her father and brother if they decided to report the domestic abuse and tried to stop him from beating her.

Police Spokeswoman Yulia Kuznetzova said in an interview:

“At first the man was charged with assault which caused severe damages to the woman’s health. But after she died and the charges were changed. The suspect pleaded partially guilty. He said he had his reasons.”

A family friend of the woman also revealed, “She was so full of hope and fun but this man destroyed her life. He should be treated in the same way as he treated her.”

As a result, the man is now reportedly facing 15 years in jail. The source failed to mention his exact reasons on why he would inflict domestic violence on his wife.
