A nurse was rushed to a private medical facility after suffering gunshot wounds from a still unidentified gunman on F. Sotto Street, Barangay Kamputhaw, in Cebu City on Sunday. The Inquirer reported that the incident stemmed from a traffic misunderstanding between the two.
Ephraim Montalbo received two gunshot wounds to his leg after the driver of a dark-colored Mercedes Benz with plate number UNI 731 shot at him four times. Cebu City Police Office (CCPO)’s homicide section lead by PO3 Nicolo Gonzales is still currently tracing Montalbo’s gunman through the help of the Land Transportation Office. PO3 Gonzales also reported that the suspect could possibly be a foreigner or a Filipino-Chinese citizen.
According to the investigation, the Mercedes Benz stopped in the middle of the road. Montalbo, who was then driving his Toyota Altis, honked at the driver so he could move forward. However instead of letting him pass, the Mercedes Benz driver got out of his car and started to kick Montalbo’s vehicle. Montalbo confronted him but the man tried to punch him. Montalbo was able to avoid the blow. He was surprised when the suspect went to his car and pulled out a gun. Moments after their verbal argument, four shots were fired.
A fellow motorist was able to take a video of the argument where the gunman was seen accompanied by a woman. Montalbo was also able to take a picture of the vehicle’s plate number despite being wounded. The Mercedes Benz rapidly fled from the scene.
