The magazine ‘Travel + Leisure‘ listed the Philippine island ‘Palawan‘ as number one for ‘World’s Best Island for Beaches and Natural Attractions‘
Travel + Leisure is a popular lifestyle magazine which annually holds World’s Best Awards.These awards are granted to the best exotic locales, travel destinations, cities, beaches, etc.
The magazine base their choice of the best through reader surveys. The publishers ask readers to vote (based on their experiences) for the best islands and beaches this world has to offer. They grade these places based on friendliness of the people, food, value, activities and natural beauty.
On the magazine’s website, the Province of Palawan was voted number 1 in the ‘Beaches and Natural Attractions‘ category – beating popular spots like Hawaii, Maldives, Bora-bora and the Galápagos Islands. Boracay was also featured in the same category at the number 10 spot.
Their profile on Palawan reads: “Palawan, the largest province in the Philippines, has top-notch snorkeling, luxe resorts, and beaches so beautiful #nofilter belongs on every Instagram photo. Many come here to explore the Bacuit Archipelago: 45 tiny isles with jaw-dropping limestone cliffs and sugar-white shores.”
Readers called Palawan a “magical place” and “the cleanest island in the Philippines.” They also praised the local residents’ passion in “preserving the natural beauty of the island.”
Palawan was also chosen for the number 1 spot in the category ‘The World’s Best Islands’ in 2013.
